Addiction is a chronic disease that affects millions of people worldwide. It a disease that causes people to use drugs, alcohol, or engage in other behaviors even when it causes problems in their life.

Addiction can take many forms, including substance abuse, gaming , or even shopping. It can be difficult to recognize and treat, as individuals with addiction often deny of their problem. The most well-known and serious addiction is to drugs and alcohol. Besides nicotine, drugs, and alcohol, other common addictions include:

coffee or caffeine, gambling, anger, food, technology, sex ,and work.

What is Substance Abuse?

Substance abuse refers specifically to using drugs or alcohol in a harmful way that can damage a person's health and well-being. It can take many forms, such as binge drinking, taking prescription medication in a way that is not prescribed, or using illegal drugs.

Substance abuse can have a wide range of negative consequences, including physical health problems, social and interpersonal difficulties, legal and financial problems. Also, substance abuse can lead to addiction, which can be a lifelong struggle.

What are the Impacts of addiction and substance abuse on mental health?

1) Addiction and substance abuse can lead to the development of mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, and psychosis.

2) Individuals with addiction and substance abuse problems are at a higher risk of suicide and self-harm behaviours.

3) These can lead to financial and legal problems, which can lead to additional stress and mental health issues.

4) Substance abuse and addiction can cause relationship problems and social isolation due to the negative impact on behavior and the effect on interpersonal relationships.

5) This can impair cognitive function, including memory, attention, and decision-making abilities. These impairments can make it more difficult for individuals to function effectively in their daily lives

What are the strategies for recovery from addiction and substance abuse?

Here are some strategies for recovery from addiction and substance abuse :
